Gatecrasher 2003

When they hit Birmingham New Street station at 9pm and were confronted by more people on the platform than were at the England Rugby World cup victory parade, Eggergizer, Hero and Lucy knew Gatecrasher 2003 at the NEC was going to be a night to remember. After a pint in the Crowne Plaza hotel we joined the thousands of people queuing to get in. The massive queue took an eternity to let people in thanks to the Rozza's and their 4 legged sniffer's, however we thought it was more likely down to Mentalist Dad causing trouble - he was in charge of the NEC door security that night!

Once in, WOW! Lucy couldn't believe how big the place was, absolutely rammed full of people, loud music, and a massive, massive dance arena. Then she discovered the main room… OH MY GOD. Eggergizer was in his new clubbing trousers with super tassels on the back which lit him up like a shooting star all night, and to complete the look, glo-sticks tied into his shoe-laces. His unique 'street-miming' style of dancing certainly turned peoples heads and brought a smile to those clubbing faces. Then in true female clubbing fashion, the heat of all the dancing soon had babe Lucy stripping off to her bra and Eggergizer, the Master of 'The Elbow' certainly didn't waste an opportunity to practice his skills! Hero absolutely revelled in the whole night, reminiscing in times gone by several years ago when he used to organise coach trips to clubs and venue's all over the UK. All he needed now were the other clubbing original's, Stevo and Special K to re-enact that infamous 'Ministry of Sound' encore of Insomnia, played by Judge Jules at 7.30am.... THEY WILL BE BACK! Into Gatecrasher's third room, this was just as big as the other two although the dance area was smaller so people could chill out and sit down at the back. All 3 rooms seemed to play a similar style of progressive house with longer tracks as opposed to short mixes, not quite Hero's taste but Eggergizer and Lucy were loving it. After a quick visit to say hello to Mentalist Dad on the doors, it was back into the main room to witness an explosive last set by the Judge, complete with pyrotechnics, tinsel paper, the lot! The 9 hour night had gone by in a flash. Lucy thought it was out of this world, Hero's face was just one big smile all night, and Eggergizer was simply in his element. The three danced right through until 6am until the show ended and it was time to go home - courtesy of Mentalist Dad. Thanks Dad, you’re a star!

Reporting Back...

Eggergizer says: "That was better than last year, even more people, more atmosphere, the music was wicked. And my batteries didn't let me down".

Lucy says: "This has been the best clubbing night I've had in my entire life. When's the next one?"

Hero says: "I preferred last years style of music, but the atmosphere this year was definitely twice as good as last years".

Official people count of the night courtesy of Mentalist Dad: 13,500 people!

Lo-light of the night: Hero lost his life-long Oakley 'Spiderman' clubbing sunglasses in the huge queue.

Hi-light of the night: Hearing that fantastic set by Tiesto and the finale of "Sunset" by "Azure" mixed by Judge Jules, with a dance floor still rammed full of people who just WOULDN'T go home.

 BRING ON GATECRASHER 2004!!!
